What Sets Us Apart

All About Us

Carolina Prime Baseball was started by Coach Shane Monahan who played professional ball for the Seattle Mariners. He saw a need for a youth baseball club in Bluffton that not only taught boys how to play the game but also how to be a young man off the field. Since its inception, more than 300 boys have come through the program.

"Baseball was life for me. It was my purpose in life. It was my identity. Baseball now is my specialty.," said Shane.  At Prime Baseball, we live and breathe the game—but more importantly, we teach it with purpose. Understanding the difference between identity and specialty is key for young athletes. Baseball may be what you love, but it’s not all you are. That mindset builds mentally tough players who can handle adversity, grow through failure, and thrive beyond the game. We’re not just developing better players—we’re developing better people.

At Carolina Prime, our youth program is the foundation of everything we do. We don’t cut corners, we don’t run gimmicks, and we don’t sell false promises. At this age growth and love of the game is the most important.

The proof is in the pudding. Year after year, our players move up the ranks sharper, smarter, and more confident because they’ve been coached the right way. We take pride in seeing them grow not just as ballplayers, but as teammates and young men who know how to grind and handle the game with class.

If you want your child in a program that focuses on development over politics and results over talk, this is it.
